Acria Libere Dicta
This is the kick-off of my campaign to get bars to serve free non-alchoholic beverages to those who don't drink alchohol. Think of all the sober cabs this would promote. I am tired of going to a bar and paying $2 for a shitty, small glass of coke. From this time forward, every time I order a coke on a Friday or Saturday night I will ask for it to be free. If they say no, I will inform them of my campaign. It starts here!

Putting up Hillary Clinton as the democratic nominee for president would be a huge mistake. First of all, she would lose, but most of all she thinks the way to win is to move to the center. Not only is this bad because it won't work but also because she is willing to move to the center to win an election. The Democratic party needs someone who will speak truth to power and stop trying to be so calculated and "republican-lite"!
Molly Ivins wrote a great peice that was recently in the Star Tribune. This is a good "enough is enough" peice. So let's stop being scared of the republicans and take it to em'! Say it loudly: "We are right"!

Give me a break! If these people had a genuine interest in being ethical, they would have done something about the "not so secret" corruption before the story broke. The GOP are a bunch of poster children for publicly financed elections. Not until we completely remove the money from politics will we truly have a government working for its people.
Update:
David Sirota puts it quite nicely!

I am so tired of James Dobson and his fascist posse! Now he claims that Wells Fargo supports a "radical homosexual agenda" because of their support for a human rights group.
This is just another example of how Focus on the Family will go down in history as a hateful and bigoted organization.
50 years ago today Martin Luther King gave a speech in support of Rosa Parks at the beginning of the Montgomery bus boycott. He said-
We are not wrong; we are not wrong in what we are doing. If we are wrong, the Supreme Court of this nation is wrong. If we are wrong, the Constitution of the United States is wrong. If we are wrong, God Almighty is wrong. If we are wrong, Jesus of Nazareth was merely a utopian dreamer that never came down to Earth. If we are wrong, justice is a lie, love has no meaning.
Homosexuals are a group of people that, because of who they are, are denied over 1000 rights that heterosexuals enjoy. This is a civil rights issue! I know the idea of gay marriage is "icky" to closed-minded people like Dobson, but it is the right thing to do. I believe history will not look kindly on those who oppose the civil rights of homosexuals, just like it does not look kindly on those who opposed civil rights for African Americans.
We are not wrong! James Dobson is wrong!

This is an exerpt from a paper I am writing that I thought you might enjoy...
The mark of someone who is working in the interests of an open society is that he is intellectually honest. This honesty is a sign that he is selfless, that he does not work in his own interests but that he is working for what is right. This honesty comes in the form of questioning the status quo and questioning oneself in a constant search for what is right. He must constantly ask “why?” The result of this thought process is one who fights for change. They fight for change because they have questioned the status quo and found it to be inadequate...
